Walk in the footsteps of Lincoln

Springfield serves as a living classroom for how state government operates. Visit the Illinois State Capitol and meet a state representative, and give your students inspiration that will last a lifetime. Visit the Old State Capitol Building, where Abraham Lincoln served as a legislator, and see the Governor’s mansion where Illinois governors have lived since 1855.

Springfield is the epicenter of Lincoln history, and see what your students have learned about in the classroom. Students tour the only home Lincoln ever owned, visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, and visit Lincoln’s tomb. Don’t forget to rub the nose of the bronze Lincoln bust before heading inside to pay your respects.
